The Origin of Our Name "Melly"
"Melly" is short for "Meldeliste," a German word that roughly translates to "registration list" or "sign-up sheet."
We chose to keep this warm, familiar name for our app, hoping to bring that same sense of community and easy organization to users around the world.
The Story Behind Melly's Founding
As parents of three school-age kids, we found ourselves constantly juggling paper sign-up sheets, group text avalanches and email reply chains for various activities.
Being a web developer, I saw an opportunity to simplify this process.
Our vision for Melly was born from a simple idea:
What if there was a secure, online way to manage these sign-ups without the hassle of paper lists, WhatsApp groups, phone calls, and follow-ups?
We wanted to create a tool that would:
- Provide online updates for all participants
- Eliminate unnecessary back-and-forth communication
- Respect user privacy without intrusive ads
- Be as simple to use as a bulletin board
Our goal was to make Melly intuitive enough for anyone to use, without any training, installation, or project management experience. Just click, sign up, and you're done!
